The Kittson Soil and Water Conservation District has a strip till machine available to rent for use on land in Kittson County. This machine was built by H & S Manufacturing out of Stephen, Minnesota. It features a 2 point attachment systems with dual wheel lift assist. It is a 12 row unit with 22 inch row spacing. It also features twin Montag fertilizer tanks with a total capacity of 3 tons.

Strip Tillage has been gaining popularity quickly in southern Minnesota mainly because it contributes to the decrease in blowing of soil and saving on costs associated with excess fertilizer, fuel costs for tillage, and labor hours.  

In the North Red River Valley, strip tillage is a relatively new concept with a few farmers starting to adventure into the trial stages of it. In efforts to provide the residents of Kittson County an opportunity to trial this machine on their land with minimal risk and no major commitment to the piece of equipment, the Kittson SWCD has developed a rental program to assist Kittson County landowners in trialing strip tillage. Rental rates are $25 an acre with a 160 acre max per producer. This machine needs to be picked up by the producer and brought back to a designated area.
